The Burning Moon1992
“When the moon is full, the blood tide rises.”
Directed by Olaf Ittenbach
The premise
A delinquent brother reads his kid sister two bedtime stories after injecting himself with heroin. These disturbingly morbid stories focus on a serial killing blind date and a murderous, psychotic priest.
Horror Vault's take
A drug-addled older brother tucks his young sister in for the night with two twisted bedtime tales — except these stories are soaked in blood rather than wonder. The first follows a woman unwittingly paired with a murderous maniac on a blind date, while the second unravels the horrifying secrets of a small-town priest whose faith conceals something truly monstrous. German splatter auteur Olaf Ittenbach delivers relentlessly mean-spirited anthology horror that pulls no punches and offers little mercy. This is extreme, lo-fi nastiness designed to shock and unsettle in equal measure.
