The premise
A giant prehistoric praying mantis, recently freed from the Arctic ice, voraciously preys on American military at the DEW Line and works its way south.

Locked in Arctic ice for millennia, a colossal praying mantis thaws out and immediately sets its sights on anything that moves — starting with remote military outposts along the DEW Line. As the creature carves a path of destruction southward toward civilization, soldiers and scientists scramble to understand and stop something that evolution never prepared humanity to face. A quintessential creature feature from the golden age of 1950s monster movies, it delivers outsized thrills on a grand scale.
