Set against the harsh, unforgiving landscape of medieval England, The Dreadful follows Anne, a woman caught between a controlling mother-in-law and the ghost of her own history when a soldier from her past rides back into her life. His return seems to awaken something ancient and malevolent, embodied in the form of a mysterious knight whose presence signals a curse closing in. As tensions within the household fracture and outside forces grow ever darker, Anne must reckon with forces both human and otherworldly. This is folk horror steeped in grim atmosphere and the crushing weight of a society that offers women precious little mercy.
