The premise
When an escaped circus gorilla appears to have gone on a murderous rampage, a threatened attorney calls on the detective trio of Garrity, Harrigan and Mullivan to act as bodyguards. In short order, we discover that there is more to the attorney than meets the eye, and the ape may be innocent after all. When a pretty young heiress faces peril, it's up to our heroic trio to save the day.

When a menacing gorilla escapes and murder is in the air, a rattled attorney summons a bumbling trio of detectives to guard his gothic mansion — with predictably chaotic results. Shadows, secret passages, and suspicious characters lurk around every corner, including a sinister butler and a nervous maid who nearly steal the show. The Ritz Brothers bring their signature slapstick energy to this classic 'old dark house' mystery, keeping audiences laughing even as the body count threatens to rise. Bela Lugosi and Lionel Atwill lend the proceedings just enough genuine menace to keep things deliciously uneasy.
