The premise
The alien criminal from the first movie is dead, but he left a few eggs which are hatching now. The good alien, who still inhabits Tom Beck's body, has been waiting just in case this happened. Unfortunately, his presence in the body has taken a terrible toll on it, draining it of life energy. Additionally relations with Beck's daughter Juliet (now a cop) have deteriorated. But when the killing starts again, they will need to work together to stop the new generation of aliens.
Horror Vault's take
Years after the events of the first film, the alien threat is far from over — dormant eggs have begun to hatch, unleashing a new wave of carnage on an unsuspecting city. A weary guardian force, housed in a deteriorating human body, must reluctantly team up with a skeptical young cop to confront the next generation of extraterrestrial killers. The sequel trades some of the original's slick surprise for a more personal, strained dynamic between its leads, while keeping the creature-driven mayhem intact. Fans of the 1987 original will find familiar beats wrapped in a grittier, lower-budget package.
