The premise
The mutant fetus is born. Dr. Helmer comes under heavy scrutiny for a botched operation that left a patient braindead, and begins to dabble in the dark arts in order to ward off those seeking an end to his career. Hypochondriac Mrs. Drusse finally does have something bad happen to her medically when an ambulance hits her.

Lars von Trier's audacious follow-up to his cult Danish miniseries plunges deeper into the haunted, bureaucratic underbelly of Copenhagen's great hospital. Grotesque new horrors emerge alongside escalating personal vendettas, as staff and patients alike find themselves entangled in forces both supernatural and all too human. The black comedy remains razor-sharp even as the stakes grow genuinely sinister, blending hospital drama with full-blooded horror in ways few series dare attempt.
