When fragments of a mysterious meteorite begin turning up in a quiet Southwestern desert town, a local scientist and his allies soon discover that these alien rocks harbor a terrifying secret tied to ordinary water. What starts as a geological curiosity quickly escalates into an existential threat that the entire community must race to understand and stop. Equal parts science lesson and creature feature, this 1957 classic trades claws and fangs for something far stranger — and arguably more unsettling.
