The premise
When an insidious supernatural force edges its way into a seemingly straightforward investigation into the gruesome murder of a young boy, it leads a seasoned cop and an unorthodox investigator to question everything they believe in.

A brutal child murder in a small Georgia town appears to be an open-and-shut case — until ironclad evidence on both sides of the investigation makes the impossible impossible to ignore. Detective Ralph Anderson and enigmatic private investigator Holly Gibney are drawn into a labyrinthine inquiry that challenges the boundaries of rational thought. As the body count grows and the truth refuses to cooperate with logic, the two must confront something far darker than an ordinary killer. This HBO limited series adapts Stephen King's novel with a slow, suffocating dread that lingers long after the credits roll.
