The premise

In 1950s rural Idaho, a young boy watches helplessly as his friends and brother fall under the spell of a mysterious widow living up the road and becomes convinced that she is a vampire.

Horror Vault's take

Set against the sun-bleached vastness of 1950s rural Idaho, The Reflecting Skin sees a young boy's world slowly unravel as death and dread close in around him. Convinced that the enigmatic widow living nearby is something far more sinister than a grieving woman, he retreats deeper into a private mythology of monsters and horror. Director Philip Ridley crafts a fever-dream vision of postwar America where innocence corrodes under the weight of adult secrets. Beautiful and deeply strange, it lingers long after the credits roll.
