The premise

When a Halloween road trip goes wrong, four friends find themselves stranded near a remote farmstead — and whatever lurks in the dark there is far worse than their wrecked car. Director Ti West channels classic '70s and '80s horror with a deliberate, creeping dread that rewards patient viewers. Framed cleverly as a film-within-a-film hosted by a ghoulish TV presenter, The Roost wears its love of genre history proudly on its sleeve. What begins as a creature-feature siege escalates into something gnarlier than the friends ever bargained for.
