The premise
A respected priest volunteers for an experimental procedure that may lead to a cure for a deadly virus. He gets infected and dies, but a blood transfusion of unknown origin brings him back to life. Now, he’s torn between faith and bloodlust, and has a newfound desire for the wife of a childhood friend.

A devout priest's selfless act of medical volunteerism sets off a chain of events that leaves him irrevocably changed — and hunted by urges that no amount of prayer can silence. Park Chan-wook's Korean vampire tale is less about monsters in the shadows and more about the monster that awakens within a man of God when flesh overpowers faith. The film unfolds as a smoldering, morally tangled love story wrapped inside a horror film, anchored by two fearless central performances. It lingers long after the credits roll, equal parts seductive and deeply disturbing.
