Welcome to the Jungle2007
“Don’t get eaten”
Directed by Jonathan Hensleigh
The premise
Two young couples head into the New Guinea wilderness in an effort to find Michael Rockefeller, the heir to the Rockefeller fortune who disappeared in 1961.
Horror Vault's take
Inspired by the real-life disappearance of Michael Rockefeller in 1961, this found footage horror plunges two young couples deep into the unforgiving jungles of New Guinea on a reckless quest to uncover what became of the missing American heir. What begins as an adventure driven by curiosity and ambition quickly curdles into something far more primal and terrifying as the wilderness closes in around them. The remote landscape itself becomes a source of dread, and the further the group ventures from safety, the clearer it becomes that some mysteries are better left buried. Shot to evoke the rawness of real amateur footage, the film leans hard into isolation and mounting paranoia.
