The premise

The reclusive Dr. Zorba has died and left his sprawling mansion to his nephew Cyrus and his family. They will need to search the house to find the doctor's fortune, but along with the property itself, they have also inherited the occultist's collection of thirteen ghosts.

Horror Vault's take

When a cash-strapped family inherits a grand mansion from their eccentric late relative, they discover the estate comes with more than creaky floorboards — the previous owner was an occultist who spent his life collecting ghosts, and all thirteen are still very much in residence. Director William Castle wraps the haunting in his trademark showmanship, originally releasing the film with a special 'Illusion-O' viewer gimmick that let audiences choose whether to see the spirits on screen. Equal parts spooky and playful, it captures the spirit of classic Hollywood horror with a family-friendly edge that never quite lets you get comfortable. A Ouija board, a hidden fortune, and a houseful of supernatural residents make for a delightfully unsettling inheritance.
