Set in the post-Civil War South, a newly freed Black family stakes their claim on forty acres of land, only to find that the ground beneath them carries a history far darker than they could have imagined. As threats both human and otherworldly close in, the family must fight to hold onto what is rightfully theirs. Steeped in Southern Gothic atmosphere, the film weaves systemic oppression and supernatural dread into a single suffocating threat. What haunts this land may be impossible to separate from the sins buried within it.
