The premise
During the final throes of the last Carlist war, a little girl is rescued from an orphanage by a mysterious woman who lives deep inside the forest.
Horror Vault's take
Set against the blood-soaked backdrop of Spain's final Carlist War in the 1870s, a young orphaned girl is taken in by an enigmatic woman who dwells in the remote depths of the forest. What begins as an unlikely refuge slowly reveals itself to be something far more complex and dangerous than the child could have imagined. Steeped in Basque rural atmosphere, this quiet and mournful film explores what it truly means to survive — and at what cost. It is a vampire story told with the patience and weight of a folk fable.
