The premise
When a singer is horribly disfigured in a car accident, a scientist develops a treatment which can restore her beauty by injecting her with a special serum. While performing the procedure, however, he falls in love with her. As the treatment begins to fail, he determines to save her appearance, regardless of how many women he must kill for her sake.

A disfigured nightclub singer becomes the unwilling center of a brilliant scientist's increasingly desperate obsession after his experimental serum offers her a chance at restored beauty. What begins as a tale of miraculous medicine quickly darkens as the doctor's fixation drives him toward unthinkable acts. This Italian genre entry blends the mad-scientist tradition with noir-tinged melodrama, wrapping its horror in a Gothic atmosphere reminiscent of classic Universal monsters. Fans of early European horror will find a film that lingers on the price of vanity — and the dangers of being desired too much.
