A young man named Brian finds himself in the grip of something far worse than any street drug — a charming, ancient parasite that trades blissful hallucinations for a price he may not fully understand until it's too late. Director Frank Henenlotter uses this lurid, low-budget premise as a razor-sharp metaphor for addiction, capturing both the seductive pull and the horrifying cost of chemical dependency. Equal parts gross-out creature feature and pitch-black comedy, the film revels in its own excess while landing genuine gut-punches of body horror.
