The premise

The owner of a plantation in the jungle marries a beautiful woman. Shortly afterward, he is plagued by a strange voodoo curse which transforms him into a gorilla. But is his transformation real or is it all in his head?

Horror Vault's take

Deep in a remote jungle plantation, a man's marriage to the woman he covets marks the beginning of a waking nightmare — one tied to voodoo, a vengeful curse, and a creeping sense that something monstrous lurks within him. As strange compulsions overtake his nights and suspicion closes in around him, the line between supernatural affliction and psychological unraveling grows dangerously thin. Featuring a cast that includes Raymond Burr and Lon Chaney Jr., this early-fifties curio blends jungle exotica with classic monster-movie atmosphere. Whether the horror is real or imagined is precisely the question that keeps this low-budget chiller ticking.
