The premise

Jonathan Harker visits the Count in Transylvania to help him with preparations to move to England. Harker becomes Dracula's prisoner and discovers Dracula's true nature. After Dracula makes his way to England, Harker becomes involved in an effort to track down and destroy the Count, eventually chasing the vampire back to his castle.

Louis Jourdan brings a cold, hypnotic elegance to the Count in this faithful BBC adaptation, anchored by a strong ensemble cast that includes Frank Finlay and Judi Bowker. The horror follows Dracula westward to England, where a desperate coalition of survivors races to end his centuries-old reign of terror. Faithful to the spirit of Stoker's novel, this TV production favours mounting dread and period atmosphere over cheap scares.
