The premise
A British estate agent travels to Transylvania to meet the mysterious Count Dracula, who is interested in leasing a London castle. After Dracula enslaves the agent and drives him to insanity, the pair return to London together, where Dracula, a secret bloodsucker, begins preying on socialites.

When a young real estate agent ventures into the fog-shrouded mountains of Transylvania to finalize a property deal with the reclusive Count Dracula, he could not have anticipated the ancient evil awaiting him within those castle walls. Dracula soon sets his sights on London society, moving through polite English circles with aristocratic grace while concealing a monstrous hunger. Bela Lugosi's iconic, mesmerizing performance established the definitive image of the vampire for generations to come. This pre-Code Universal chiller remains the cornerstone of the entire vampire genre.
