The premise

Count Dracula is a British television adaptation of the novel Dracula by Bram Stoker. It first aired 22 December 1977. It is among the more faithful of the many adaptations of the original book. Louis Jourdan played the title role.

Horror Vault's take

One of the most faithful screen adaptations of Bram Stoker's enduring novel, this BBC television production brings the Count's reign of terror to life with rare literary loyalty. Louis Jourdan cuts an elegant and unsettling figure as Dracula, lending the ancient predator a chilling sophistication. Unfolding across the fog-drenched landscapes and drawing rooms of the Victorian world, the series honours Stoker's epistolary structure and gothic atmosphere in ways few screen versions dare to attempt.
