The premise
F.M. discovers that different sonic frequencies induce different patterns of behaviour in listeners, first in his own studio but later in the local "H-Burger" restaurant where the passive muzak appears to be wiping people's emotions.

In the grimy underground of 1980s West Germany, a musician stumbles onto a disturbing discovery: sound itself can be weaponised to hollow out the human mind. What begins as a private obsession in his studio soon expands into a confrontation with the sanitised, soul-deadening muzak pumped through a fast-food chain. Part punk provocation, part dystopian nightmare, Decoder blurs the line between experimental art film and paranoid horror. Its cast of real-life avant-garde figures lends it a raw, dangerous authenticity that lingers long after the credits roll.
