The premise
Somewhere in Europe, mid-20th century. Albert is employed to look after Mia, a girl with teeth of ice. Mia never leaves their apartment, where the shutters are always closed. The telephone rings regularly and the Master enquires after Mia's wellbeing. Until the day Albert is instructed that he must prepare the child to leave.
Horror Vault's take
In a shuttered European apartment frozen somewhere in the mid-twentieth century, a reclusive caretaker tends to a strange, silent girl whose teeth are made of ice — a secret that speaks to something far beyond ordinary explanation. Their claustrophobic routine is governed by phone calls from an unseen, demanding Master, and the outside world feels both impossibly distant and quietly threatening. When orders finally arrive to prepare the child to leave, the careful order of their existence begins to fracture in deeply unsettling ways. Earwig is a hypnotic, slow-burn fable that resists easy interpretation and lingers long after it ends.
