The premise
Timmy Robinson's best friend in the whole wide world is a six-foot tall rotting zombie named Fido. But when Fido eats the next-door neighbor, Mom and Dad hit the roof, and Timmy has to go to the ends of the earth to keep Fido a part of the family. A boy-and-his-dog movie for grown ups, "Fido" will rip your heart out.
Horror Vault's take
Set in a retrofuturistic 1950s-style suburb where the zombie apocalypse has already been tidied away into polite society, Fido follows young Timmy Robinson and his unusual bond with the family's zombie servant. When Fido's behavior takes a gruesome turn, Timmy finds himself fighting to protect a friendship that nobody around him quite understands. Equal parts Lassie homage and biting social satire, the film skewers postwar conformity with a grin and a splatter of blood.
