I Blame Society2020
“Filmmaking needs some new blood.”
Directed by Gillian Wallace Horvat
🏆 3 wins & 4 nominations
The premise
A struggling filmmaker senses her peers are losing faith in her ability to succeed, so she decides to prove herself by finishing her last abandoned film and committing the perfect murder.
Horror Vault's take
A disillusioned filmmaker channels her mounting frustration with Hollywood indifference into a singular, disturbing creative project — one that blurs the line between art and atrocity. Shot in a mockumentary style, the film turns the camera on its own protagonist with a wickedly dark sense of humor, asking just how far someone will go to prove they have what it takes. It's a razor-sharp satire of creative ego and the desperate hunger for recognition that festers beneath the surface of indie filmmaking culture.
