The premise

A family discovers that dark spirits have invaded their home after their son inexplicably falls into an endless sleep. When they reach out to a professional for help, they learn things are a lot more personal than they thought.

Horror Vault's take

When a young boy suddenly falls into an unexplained coma-like sleep, his parents begin experiencing increasingly terrifying disturbances that suggest their home is far from ordinary. Desperate for answers, they turn to a specialist in the paranormal — only to discover the true source of the terror runs far deeper than the walls of any house. Director James Wan crafts slow-burn dread through shadow, sound, and suggestion, delivering scares that linger long after the credits roll. Insidious revitalized mainstream supernatural horror with a commitment to atmosphere over gore.
