It's Alive III: Island of the Alive1987
“They do something worse than kill. They multiply.”
Directed by Larry Cohen
The premise
The mutant babies have been placed by court order on a deserted island. Appalled by the cynicism and exploitation by the legal system and the media, the man responsible leads an expedition to the island to free them.
Horror Vault's take
The third entry in Larry Cohen's cult creature series takes a sharp satirical turn, placing its infamous mutant offspring on a quarantined island while skewering the legal system and media circus that put them there. One tormented father, disgusted by the cynicism surrounding his monstrous children, pushes back against the establishment in ways that grow increasingly dangerous. The film balances dark absurdist humor with genuine unease as the expedition to the island forces a reckoning between humanity and the creatures it created — and abandoned. Michael Moriarty anchors the chaos with a characteristically offbeat, magnetic performance.
