The premise
A filmmaker who grew up alongside Chucky the killer doll seeks out the other families surrounding the Child's Play films as they recount their experiences working on the ongoing franchise and what it means to be a part of the, "Chucky" family.
Horror Vault's take
Director Kyra Elise Gardner — daughter of special effects artist Tony Gardner — has a uniquely personal angle on the Child's Play franchise: she literally grew up with Chucky. In this warmly candid documentary, she gathers the cast and creative minds behind the long-running series to reflect on what it truly means to belong to the Chucky family. Equal parts love letter and behind-the-scenes oral history, the film charts how a killer doll became a decades-long cultural phenomenon. Fans of the franchise will find plenty of intimate revelations about the people who brought Chucky to life.
