The premise

In 1930 Hollywood, a Spanish actor is cast in the night shoot of a soon-to-be-legendary vampire film, forced to imitate the English-speaking star who performs the same role by day. The two actors regularly meet at the transitory hours of their shoots, and a rivalry stirs between them. All the while, a string of murders are occurring on and around the soundstage.

Horror Vault's take

Set against the gaslit glamour of 1930s Hollywood, Los Vampires follows a Spanish actor hired to shoot the night-shift version of a landmark vampire picture — a shadow performer condemned to mirror the celebrated English-speaking star who works by day. As the two men's uneasy encounters at the edge of dawn deepen into rivalry, a series of killings close to the soundstage casts a darkening pall over the production. The film weaves old-world Gothic menace into a period murder mystery, blurring the line between the monster being performed and the darkness lurking behind the camera. Glamour and dread share the frame in equal measure.
