The premise
There's a deadly zombie epidemic threatening humanity, but Wade, a small-town farmer and family man, refuses to accept defeat even when his daughter Maggie becomes infected. Maggie strips away the action-horror trappings of the zombie genre to deliver something far quieter and more devastating — a character study about love tested to its absolute limit. Schwarzenegger's restrained performance anchors a film that asks what it truly means to protect someone you cannot save.
