“There was a reason why it couldn't be released.”
Directed by Yun Jun-hyung
The premise
The video evidence of the murder, which is especially brutal and graphic, that shouldn't be released to the public; a reporter who has access to the prosecutor's office hears about a cursed tape in the video archive and begins reporting on it.
Horror Vault's take
When a journalist with inside access to the prosecutor's office catches wind of a notorious tape buried deep in the evidence archive, curiosity overrides caution. The footage — tied to a savage, unsolved murder — is said to carry a curse that follows anyone who views it. What begins as a scoop spirals into something far more personal and disturbing as the reporter digs deeper into what the tape truly contains. South Korean found-footage horror that weaponises surveillance culture and the allure of the forbidden.
