The premise
While mainland Britain shivers in deepest winter, the northern island of Fara bakes in the nineties, and the boys at the Met station have no more idea what is going on than the regulars at the Swan. Only a stand-offish visting scientist realizes space aliens are to blame.

A remote Scottish island becomes a pressure cooker when an inexplicable, ferocious heatwave grips it in the dead of winter — while the rest of Britain freezes. The locals and staff of a nearby meteorological station are baffled, tempers fray, and secrets surface as conditions grow unbearable. A mysterious visiting scientist may hold answers, but the truth behind the heat source is far more terrifying than anyone bargained for. This lean British chiller pairs an eerie conceptual threat with the claustrophobic tension of an island community with nowhere to run.
