Night of the Lepus1972
“How many eyes does horror have?”
Directed by William F. Claxton
The premise
Rancher Cole Hillman is fed up of rabbits plaguing his fields. Zoologist Roy Bennett conducts an experiment to curb their population, but it gives rise to giant rabbits that terrorise the town.
Horror Vault's take
When an Arizona rancher's rabbit infestation becomes the subject of a well-meaning scientific experiment, the results are anything but controlled. A genetic intervention gone catastrophically wrong unleashes a terror on the surrounding community that no one could have predicted. Part drive-in creature feature, part cautionary tale about tampering with the natural order, Night of the Lepus delivers its threat on an impressive scale — even if that threat hops. Fans of 1970s creature cinema will find plenty to sink their teeth into.
