The premise
Ellen receives an exotic mask by mistake and begins to have waking nightmares and hallucinations. Her husband and doctors believe she is a paranoid schizophrenic and take her to a psychiatric ward. On the way to the hospital the car breaks down, her husband rushes off to get gas, and the Nightmare Man appears. Ellen escapes and stumbles upon a country house where two young couples are spending the weekend. They do not know if the killer is real or just a figment of Ellen's tortured mind nor if the killer is outside or already inside the house.

When Ellen begins suffering terrifying waking nightmares after an exotic mask arrives at her door, the people around her chalk it up to mental illness — but the masked figure stalking her seems all too real. Stranded on a dark road after her car breaks down, she flees to a remote country house occupied by two vacationing couples who quickly find themselves pulled into her nightmare. What follows is a tense, campy siege in which nobody can be sure whether the threat lurks outside in the shadows or has already slipped through the door. Nightmare Man blends slasher-style carnage with genuine questions about the nature of evil and perception.
