The premise

In the Sahara desert, a sandstorm batters a deserted drilling station. A security patrolman battles through the high winds to investigate why all contact with the station has been lost. Originally built for gas exploration, and then abandoned, the site had recently been taken over by a multi-national research team intent on drilling deeper into the earth’s crust than ever before.

Horror Vault's take

Deep in the Sahara, a lone security patrolman arrives at a remote drilling station to find it eerily abandoned after a research team pushed further into the earth's crust than any expedition before them. Cut off from the outside world by raging sandstorms, he begins to question whether the horrors closing in on him are real — or something his fractured mind has conjured. Nine Miles Down is a slow-burn descent into paranoia, where the desert itself feels like a living, hostile force. The deeper he digs for answers, the more the line between investigation and madness dissolves.
