The premise
Mateo lives with his mother Libertad in a rose-tinted world: a microcosm that has precisely two inhabitants, mother and son. One day Mateo is diagnosed with cancer.

Mateo and his mother Libertad have built a sealed, rose-tinted world of two — a suffocating idyll that exists entirely on their own terms. When a cancer diagnosis forces the outside world to intrude, the delicate logic holding their private universe together begins to crack in deeply strange ways. Spanish genre filmmakers use the framework of dark comedy and psychological horror to probe what happens when a love this consuming is confronted by the uncontrollable. Expect something visually stylised, emotionally disquieting, and unlike most horror you've seen.
