The premise
A woman brings her family back to her childhood home, which used to be an orphanage, intent on reopening it. Before long, her son starts to communicate with a new invisible friend.
Horror Vault's take
A woman returns to the crumbling seaside orphanage where she spent her early years, dreaming of restoring it as a home for children with special needs. When her young son begins speaking of a mysterious new playmate no one else can see, an unsettling undercurrent begins to ripple through the family. What starts as an eerie domestic drama deepens into something far more complex, weaving grief, guilt, and the weight of forgotten history into every shadow of the old house. Spanish director J.A. Bayona crafts a ghost story that lingers long after the credits roll.
