The premise
Having recently found God, self-effacing young nurse Maud arrives at a plush home to care for Amanda, a hedonistic dancer left frail from a chronic illness. When a chance encounter with a former colleague throws up hints of a dark past, it becomes clear there is more to sweet Maud than meets the eye.

A quietly devout hospice nurse named Maud takes on the care of a terminally ill former dancer, becoming dangerously consumed by a personal mission she believes is divinely ordained. Beneath her meek exterior lies a fractured past and a faith that grows increasingly difficult to distinguish from fanaticism. Director Rose Glass crafts a suffocatingly intimate portrait of a mind teetering on the edge, where devotion and delusion bleed into one another. Morfydd Clark delivers a transfixing lead performance that keeps viewers unsettled from first frame to last.
