A restless diner waitress trades her dead-end life for the lurid glamour of the travelling carnival, convinced a better existence waits under the big top. What she finds instead is a world with its own brutal codes — ones she is wholly unprepared to respect. Shot on a shoestring with genuine carnival footage, She Freak is a slow-burning exploitation parable about a woman whose contempt for those around her sets her on a very dark path. Fans of late-60s grindhouse cinema will recognise it as a loose reworking of a much older horror classic.
