Set against the brooding English countryside of the 1970s, Starve Acre follows a couple whose quiet rural life fractures when their young son begins exhibiting deeply disturbing behaviour. An archaeologist father's excavation of the land surrounding their home stirs something ancient and malevolent that has lain dormant for centuries. What begins as a family in crisis slowly curdles into something far darker, as the boundary between the natural world and something deeply wrong begins to dissolve. Matt Smith and Morfydd Clark anchor this slow-building folk horror with raw, grounded performances.
