The premise
Working on a documentary about infamous painter Mamiya Ichiro, a TV crew filming at his old home come under attack from the ghost of the painter's wife.
Horror Vault's take
A television documentary crew descends on the long-abandoned mansion of legendary Japanese painter Mamiya Ichiro, hoping to uncover lost masterworks hidden within its decaying walls. What they find instead is a malevolent presence that has no intention of letting them leave with their discovery — or their lives. This late-80s Japanese horror blends eerie atmosphere with surprisingly gruesome practical effects, carving out a unique space between ghost story and all-out splatter film. Fans of J-horror should note this as a fascinating precursor to the genre's later boom.
