A creeping sense of doom descends on a seemingly ordinary family when disturbing nightmares begin bleeding into waking life. Something malevolent and invisible has fixed its attention on them, and no amount of reason or denial can hold it at bay. This quiet British chiller builds its tension through suggestion and dread rather than spectacle, letting the horror grow in the spaces between what is shown. Edward Woodward anchors the film with a grounded performance that makes the encroaching darkness all the more believable.
