The premise
A caretaker at a summer camp is burned when a prank goes tragically wrong. After several years of intensive treatment at hospital, he is released back into society, albeit missing some social skills. What follows is a bloody killing spree with the caretaker making his way back to his old stomping ground to confront one of the youths that accidentally burned him.

A summer camp prank leaves a caretaker horribly disfigured, and years later he emerges from the hospital a changed — and dangerous — man. Teenagers enjoying a seasonal escape in the woods soon find themselves hunted by a figure with a very personal score to settle. One of the defining entries in the early-'80s slasher wave, The Burning delivers relentless tension and memorable set pieces that cemented its cult reputation. Fans of the golden age of camp-based horror will find plenty to savour here.
