The premise
In early 20th century California, a young woman takes a job as a nanny to a young girl whose mother has recently died. On her way to the rural, secluded home, she meets a neighbor who warns her of the family's reputation. She soon meets the crabby, morbid Mr. Nordon, his awkward son Len, and the aloof Rosalie; who can seemingly animate objects when she is angry.

Set against the fog-shrouded countryside of early 20th century California, this obscure low-budget chiller follows a young nanny who arrives at a remote family estate already shadowed by tragedy and rumor. The brooding household she enters is dominated by a strange, withdrawn girl named Rosalie — a child whose grief over her dead mother has curdled into something deeply unnatural. Strange things stir in the surrounding woods as Rosalie's volatile moods seem to bend reality itself. What begins as gothic domestic unease escalates into something far more sinister lurking at the edge of the property.
