The premise

Two French policemen, one investigating a grisly murder at a remote mountain college, the other working on the desecration of a young girl's grave by skinheads, are brought together by the clues from their respective cases. Soon after they start working together, more murders are committed, and the pair begin to discover just what dark secrets are behind the killings.

Horror Vault's take

In the French Alps, a seasoned Paris detective and a sharp local cop find their seemingly unrelated cases — a brutal campus murder and a desecrated child's grave — converging into something far more sinister. As the body count climbs, the two men must navigate a closed, secretive mountain community where the truth is buried deep. Visually striking and relentlessly paced, the film blends hard-boiled police procedural with an increasingly dark undercurrent of ritual and obsession. Jean Reno and Vincent Cassel make for a compelling odd-couple pairing driving this stylish French thriller toward a disturbing conclusion.
