The premise
Sheriff Reddle thinks there's a connection between a mysterious, invisible force that made his father kill his mother back in 1981. He sets out to uncover and stop the so-called "dammed thing" before it decimates the whole town by forcing the residents to kill each other and then finally... themselves.

When a wave of inexplicable, murderous violence begins tearing through a small Texas town, Sheriff Kevin Reddle can't shake the feeling it's connected to a childhood tragedy he barely survived. Something unseen and ancient seems to be driving ordinary people to horrific acts, and Reddle may be the only one who can piece together the truth before the body count becomes total. Based on Ambrose Bierce's classic short story, this Masters of Horror entry blends small-town dread with a creeping, cosmic menace. The horror here isn't just what you can see — it's what you can't.
