The premise
On a secluded farm in a nondescript rural town, a man is slowly dying. His family gathers to mourn, and soon a darkness grows, marked by waking nightmares and a growing sense that something evil is taking over the family.

A brother and sister return to their family's remote Texas farm as their father nears death, only to find something malevolent already waiting for them. The isolation of the landscape mirrors a creeping spiritual decay that tightens its grip on everyone inside the house. Director Bryan Bertino crafts a relentlessly grim atmosphere where grief and supernatural dread become impossible to tell apart. This is slow-burn horror at its most punishing — quiet, rural, and deeply unsettling.
