When strippers at a Chicago nightclub start turning up brutally murdered, an ambitious young reporter teams up with a suave — if eccentric — private detective to unmask the killer. Director Herschell Gordon Lewis, the self-proclaimed 'Godfather of Gore,' cranks the bloodshed to outrageous extremes while lacing the proceedings with a darkly comic tone. The seedy strip-club milieu and parade of grotesque set pieces made this a defining entry in early-70s splatter cinema. It's equal parts murder mystery and shock-value spectacle, designed to provoke as much as it entertains.
