The premise
A group of survivors from all walks of the apocalypse – an idiotic Sheriff with definite coma-induced brain damage, his hardass son and a hobo with only a crossbow to stave off the walking dead, four squabbling friends forced to survive this zombieland together, and a lonely zombie who just needs love to fully regain his warm body – leave their once-safe mall hideout in search of the rumored Safe Haven Ranch, a refuge untouched by the zombie virus that has ravaged humanity.
Horror Vault's take
A ragtag band of apocalypse survivors — including a dim-witted sheriff, his no-nonsense son, and a crossbow-toting hobo — abandon their mall refuge and set out across a zombie-ravaged landscape in search of a legendary safe haven. Along for the chaotic ride is a lovelorn zombie who may just prove that not all the undead are beyond saving. The film gleefully skewers the most beloved conventions of zombie movies and TV, packing in broad gags and familiar faces from across the genre. It's low-budget, unapologetically goofy, and squarely aimed at fans who know their zombie lore well enough to enjoy seeing it lampooned.
