The Wig2005
“Some memories are more than permanent.”
Directed by Won Shin-yun
The premise
Su-hyeon, a patient with terminal cancer, gets a wig as a present from her sister, Ji-hyeon. Strange things happen as Su-hyeon wears the wig and horror starts to sweep over Ji-hyeon as she watches her sister getting slowly possessed.
Horror Vault's take
When a terminally ill woman receives a wig as a loving gift from her sister, the gesture quickly turns sinister as the hairpiece seems to exert a disturbing influence over its wearer. What begins as a story of familial devotion and fragile hope transforms into a creeping nightmare that forces the gifting sister to confront something far beyond her understanding. This South Korean horror entry leans into atmosphere and dread, using the intimate bond between two sisters as the emotional engine for its escalating terror. Fans of J-horror and K-horror traditions will find its slow-burn approach and unsettling imagery right at home.
